Lunch Break,
Lunch Break began a 35mm transparency slideshow consisting of 65 slides with an ideal loop time of 12 minutes, but has since transitioned to individual pigment prints. The project functions as a photographic description of a men’s room located on the grounds of a state historic site in an oil refinery town on the outskirts of Houston. This site has become known to Texans as the geographic birthplace of an independent Texas, marking the final battle of the Texas Revolution. The work aims to consider a state-run park whose ethos is based on the promise of freedom, by focusing on the brief, lunch-hour freedom of those who find solace and connection in its obscure spaces.
